This is the first single to be released under the Pony Canyon label since the release of her 5th full-length album "Coco Base" in February 2019, and the first CD single in approximately 3 years since the release of her 13th single "Daijobu" in July 2018! She has teamed up with sound producer Katsutoshi Kitagawa (ROUND TABLE) again, who has been creating Kana Hanazawa's music with her since the beginning, and has written the lyrics for the title track "Moonlight Magic"--the intro theme song for TV drama "Omimi ni aimashitara". In addition, the coupling song includes a new song "Minato no Mieru Oka" written by Kana Hanazawa, as well as Chinese versions of the two aforementioned songs!
ポニーキャニオンへのレーベル移籍第一弾シングルとして発売される本作は、2019年2月発表の5枚目のフルアルバム『ココベース』以来の作品で、CDシングルとしては2018年7月に発売した13枚目のシングル「大丈夫」以来、約3年振りの作品! 最初期より花澤香菜の音世界を共に創り上げてきたサウンドプロデューサー・北川勝利 (ROUND TABLE)と再びタッグを組み、花澤香菜自ら筆を執り作詞した表題曲「Moonlight Magic」 (テレビ東京・木ドラ24『お耳に合いましたら。』オープニングテーマ)に加え、カップリングにも花澤香菜作詞による新曲「港の見える丘」を収録の他、さらに前述の2曲の中国語詞バージョンを収録!
