育碧在E3发布会正式公布了其FPS新作《孤岛惊魂3》，并首次放出了实际游戏演示及截图。该作由育碧蒙特利尔主力开发，育碧上海和育碧Massive协力开发，采用了全面升级的Dunia引擎。育碧蒙特利尔工作室的制作人Dan Hay说：“《孤岛惊魂3》继承着《孤岛惊魂》系列的‘纯种血统’，并将带来全新的内容。无论是《孤岛惊魂》系列的老玩家还是新近加入的新手，都可以享受到它宏大的故事。”《孤岛惊魂3》在2012年登陆PC，Xbox360和PS3平台。
《孤岛惊魂 3》的故事背景将再次被设置在非洲，不过新一代游戏将会拥有史上最大的游戏世界。在《孤岛惊魂3》中，玩家将会扮演Jason Brody。在这个没有法律、暴力才是真王道的原始天堂中，玩家将决定整个故事的发展。玩家所作出的选择，包括与谁战斗、与谁结盟都会影响到剧情。在游戏中，玩家扮演的Jason Brody将在这个人性已经泯灭了的孤岛上杀出一条血路。
