《鬼泣（英文：Devil May Cry，日文：デビル メイ クライ，意思是“恶魔会哭泣”）》，其它中文译名：《恶魔猎人》、《魔颤》，是日本CAPCOM公司发行的动作类型单机电子游戏，以华丽的战斗表现为特色，无论是场景、气氛、以及系统都十分优秀。在1998年，CAPCOM推出《生化危机3》后，曾担任《生化危机2》游戏监督的神谷英树预备开发最新作《生化危机4》，公司内部同时打算推出生化危机系列外传游戏《生化危机：代号-维罗妮卡》，并交由世嘉属下Nextech Corporation研发。于是游戏开发人员到欧洲的西班牙搜寻各种各样的城堡来设计游戏的环境。《生化危机4》初版出来后，三上真司意识到初版在各方面都与以往生化危机系列的恐怖风格大有不同。CAPCOM不想放弃这个初版，于是自此开创了一个名为“鬼泣”的游戏。
一个深夜，一位与但丁母亲Eva相貌相似的女子出现在事务所，自称翠西的这名女子告知但丁，魔帝要回人间。她委托但丁前往一个魔帝在过去受人类信奉时所在的岛屿上。翠西告知魔帝正打算在那里苏醒。远古时期，一位忽然出现在魔界的白色恶魔，凭借着他那强大的力量征服了恶魔世界。他就是魔界帝王-蒙德斯。因为斯巴达攻击了他和同胞，他视斯巴达为『叛徒』，并在其胸前留下难看的伤口。
